The Cardinal Center in Ohio

Of the thousands of vehicles traveling along I-71 about 30 miles north of Columbus each day most people don't even notice the manicured grounds or the sign identifing The Cardinal Center. After all, from the road it is hard to distinguish from the neighboring farms and cropland as it basks in the summer sunshine of central Ohio.

Of those that do recognize the orderly well groomed grounds of the trap ranges which are visible from the road as a "place for Shooting guns" the view from the road can't possibly indicate all that is available for the outdoorsman that visits the grounds.

Fewer still realize that in the short time since its inception by Mr. Jack Fishburn, he and his family have created a premier regional outdoor recreation and meeting facility. Not only does it have over 350 campsites for family camping, a lake for fishing, an indoor swimming pool, rental cabins, meeting rooms, an archery range, and more making it a full service vacation facility, it is arguably the premier facility in the country for trap shooting events and the clay target sports.

Trapshooting has a large and active following among Ohio sportsmen. The state is famous for hosting many national and international events over the years with thousands of competitors coming to the state each year. The state's premier event is The State Shoot and the home grounds for that event are The Cardinal Center.

Because of changing demographics, physical or geographic limitations, or a variety of other reasons some facilities that have been forced to adapt and improvise over the years to accommodate the changing needs of the shooters which sometimes leads to less than ideal services and/or club layouts. Of course this is understandable and the clubs always do the best job they can to run a good shoot but things like parking, vendor access, and camping accommodations can make the difference between a "good event" and a "great event" for the competitors.

Competitors at The Cardinal Center will find plenty of parking that is close to the Clubhouse and traphouses, a well organized "vendor row", ample spaces for RV and camper parking that is close to the action, clean modern facilities, and above all else plenty of staff that are helpful and friendly to assist in whatever way they can to make your visit with them something that you look forward to repeating time and time again.

No wonder it's reputation within the shooting community is so good.
